planetside

Whenever I start this game, just after I select my character, it goes to 3/4 of a screen that is black. Nothing happens after that. The computer isnt busy or anything. Anyone got any ideas?

Sounds like a video problem to me. With out more information I can truely say though. But I can say what I've done to get planetside running on vista on my machine.
1) Run Planetside in Nt 4.0 mode (don't know why, but this seems to be the best one) 2) Run Launcher in WinXP mode 3) Turn off (do not disable) Superfetch service
For some reason the Superfetch service was competely screwing with Planetside for me. If I have Superfetch running, I can get into the game maybe once every 20 attempts. With Superfetch turned off, I get in every time.
So far Video, Sound, Mouse and gamepad is working just fine.
